Can I have more than 1 foil colour on my foil printed postcards?
Absolutely! You can have 1 foil colour per side, from gold on the front to silver on the rear to black chrome on the front to metallic red on the rear – however you envision your metallic postcards, we’ve got you covered.
Do I have to have lamination on my foiled postcards?
Fortunately, yes! Our customers (and our customer's customers) are regularly flooded with complements about our soft-touch laminate, it really makes our foil postcards. In order to create your foil-printed postcards, we print your postcards, laminate them, and add your metallic foil layer on top. This is a tried and trusted method, and without our silky soft-touch laminate, it simply doesn’t work the same! What’s more, foiling atop our soft-touch laminate maximises the metallic shine of your chosen foil shade while adding additional durability to your metallic foil postcards.
Can you help me set up my artwork for foil postcard printing?
Absolutely, we can. We employ a team of in-house pre-press design experts who are on-hand to get your foil print artwork ready to hit the presses. To team up with one of our designers, hit the ‘Supply Brief & We Design’ option on your way through to the checkout and our design team will get to work perfecting your postcards.
Will I be able to write on my metallic foil postcards?
If you only need foil on the front of your postcards, we recommend keeping the rear unlaminated, making it much easier to write on with a conventional ballpoint pen. If you’re opting for foil (and therefore lamination) on both sides of your postcard, we cannot guarantee the ease of writing with a ballpoint or marker pen on top of our lamination. In this case, we recommend ordering a sample pack and ensuring that your desired pen works with our laminate.
What paper should I print my custom metallic postcards on?
Good question! When we say we have a lot of paper types to choose from, we really mean it. If you’re designing metallic foil postcards to be written on, you can’t go wrong with an uncoated stock, however if you’re going for double-sided foil, silk is perfect for bold and brilliant designs. I’ve left my foil postcard order until the last minute – how soon can you have them with me?
We try our very best to get all orders out for customer deadlines, however, the printing, finishing, and quality control time frame depends heavily on your order quantity and amount of finishing. Speed will also depend on whether or not you require our in-house design service. For an approximate turnaround time, configure your order or get in touch with a member of our team today.
Artwork Requirements
The Basics
Allow 2mm of bleed around all artwork for cutting tolerances.
Format all artwork to CMYK.
Set your resolution to a minimum of 300DPI.
Supply your artwork in PDF, JPG or fully packaged AI formats.
Keep all text, logos and foreground images within a 3mm safe zone from the cut edge.
Separate all foil elements from CMYK artwork, place foil elements on a separate page, and supply as 100% K (black). See our helpful guide about how to supply artwork for foil printing.
Die Cut Or Kiss Cut (Shaped) Products Including Stickers
Indicate cut lines using a 1pt magenta line on a separate layer or separate page.
Folded, Perforated or Drilled Products
Indicate any crease lines, perforation lines or drill holes using a 1pt magenta line on a separate layer or separate page.
