Based on how foil behaves during the production process, these are the most common issues we see - and how to avoid them:
Avoid very fine lines or small text in foil, as detail can be lost during application
Keep foil elements at least 3mm away from trim edges to prevent cracking
Make sure foil layers are supplied separately from CMYK artwork to avoid setup delays
Don’t expect foil to behave like ink or toner - metallic finishes reflect light differently and require more defined shapes
Use strong contrast between the foil and the background to ensure key elements really stand out
