Making Your Metallic Invites Shine
At The Foil Printing Co., not only do we specialize in foil printing but all the fancy finishes that accompany it. When it comes to printing custom foil invitations, we don’t have a ‘one style fits all’ attitude, quite the opposite in-fact, with more metallic foil shades, paper types, and finishing options than you’re likely to find elsewhere. Not just that, but we offer custom foil printing invitations in a range of shapes and sizes, with the option to insert your own bespoke size request or die-cut dimensions for custom shaped foil invitations. You even have the option to split your order across multiple designs if you want to order metallic invites for both wedding ceremony and reception guests at the same time!
As far as choosing the right foil color for foil invitation printing goes, we recommend ordering a sample pack to see them all for yourself. Including every foil shade in our arsenal, it’s by far the easiest way to make an informed decision before settling on a shade. You’ll also find a curated selection of paper types included, alongside our pre-applied soft-touch lamination, perfect if you’re undecided when it comes to paper. Want foil on both sides of your custom foil invitations? You found the right foil invite company! With the option to choose a different foil color on the front and rear, why not make your foiled invitations your own?

How to Choose the Right Foil Invitations
With so many paper stocks and foil colors available, it can be tricky to know which combination will suit your invitations best. A lot comes down to the style of your event, the colors you’re working with, and whether you want the foil to feel subtle, classic, bold, or more design-led.
Our team works with these materials every day, so the suggestions below are based on the combinations we know tend to work well in print. They’re here to give you a useful starting point, whether you’re planning wedding invitations, event invites, party stationery, or a full printed invitation suite.

What Makes Our Foil Invitations Different
Foil invitations are often kept, handled, photographed, pinned up, or passed around before the event, so the details really matter. From the size and shape of the invite to the way the foil catches the light, every choice affects how the finished piece feels when it arrives.
At The Foil Printing Co., we focus entirely on foil printing, which means we’re not just offering foil as an add-on. We work with foil artwork, stocks, laminates, folds, perforations, and custom shapes every day, so we can help you choose the setup that suits your invitation design, event style, and practical requirements.
Whether you’re ordering wedding invitations, party invites, launch invitations, corporate event stationery, or something completely custom, we can tailor the format, print, foil, and finishing to suit the job.
Invitations Sizes, Formats & Custom Shapes
Foil invitations can be supplied in a range of formats, including portrait, landscape, square, or custom die-cut shapes. This gives you the flexibility to choose a layout that suits the amount of information, the style of the event, and how you want the invitation to be presented.
Popular invitation sizes include 4 x 6”, 4 x 8”, 4.25 x 5.5” and 5 x 7”, along with plenty of other options and custom sizing if you need something more specific.
For something more unique, custom die-cut shapes can be used to create arches, waves, curved edges, or completely custom outlines. This works especially well when the shape of the invitation is part of the overall look, rather than just a container for the design.
Single or Double-Sided Foil Invitations
You can choose foil on one side or both sides of your invitations. Many customers use foil on the front to highlight key details such as names, dates, headings, monograms, or decorative borders, then keep the reverse for supporting information.
Double-sided foil can work well if you want the invitation to feel more substantial, or if the design separates the main event detail from extra information such as timings, venue notes, dress code, or RSVP instructions.
If one side is not foiled, it does not always need lamination. Depending on the design, the non-foiled side can be left unlaminated, soft-touch laminated to match the front, or finished with matte or gloss lamination.
Black or CMYK Print
Your invitation artwork can be printed in black or full CMYK color before the foil is applied. Black print works well for simple, elegant layouts, while CMYK gives more freedom for color backgrounds, illustrations, patterns, photography, or branded event artwork.
Foil can then be used to bring out the key details, whether that is a name, date, logo, border, heading, icon, or decorative feature.
Why Soft-Touch Lamination is Used
All foil-printed products include soft-touch lamination on the foiled side. This creates a smooth, consistent surface for the foil to adhere to, helping us achieve clean, reliable results.
It also gives the invitation a soft, velvety feel, which works especially well for event stationery where the finish is part of the first impression. If your invitation is foiled on both sides, both sides will be laminated. If only one side is foiled, we can help you choose the most suitable finish for the reverse.
Folded Invitations, Creases & RSVP Tear-Offs
If your invitation needs to include more information, a folded format can be a useful option. Creases can be applied horizontally or vertically, with one or two crease lines depending on the layout.
We can also add perforations for tear-off sections, such as RSVP slips, return details, tickets, vouchers, or detachable information panels. Perforations are available as one, two, or three horizontal or vertical perforation lines, or as a custom setup if your design needs something more specific.
These finishing options are especially helpful for invitations that need to be both attractive and practical.
Rounded Corners & Finishing Options
Rounded corners can be added to soften your invitations and give the finished invite a more polished feel. We offer 6mm or 16mm rounded corners, depending on how subtle or noticeable you want the curve to be.
For more design-led invitations, custom die-cutting can be used to create a completely custom outline. This is often a good choice for simpler layouts, where the shape, foil, and paper stock do more of the work without making the artwork feel too busy.
Artwork Supplied by You or Designed by Us
You can supply your own finished artwork, or our team can design your foil invitations for you from a brief. If you already have print-ready artwork, we’ll check the setup before proofing to make sure the foil layer, print artwork, bleed, safe zones, and finishing guides are clear.
If you need design support, we can work from your event details, theme, color palette, wording, and any brand or wedding stationery references you already have. This can be especially useful if you know the style you want but need help turning it into artwork that is ready for foil printing.
Can my invitations with foil have more than one foil color?
Absolutely! While we’re unable to foil more than 1 shade per side, if you’re opting for double-sided metallic foil invitation printing, you’re welcome to choose a different foil color on the front and rear.

Fortunately, yes! Our soft-touch lamination is as smooth as butter, adding a luxurious feel to your metallic invitation printing. A win-win overall we’d say!

Of course! We have a team of designers in-house ready to work their magic on your foil invitation design. Select ‘Supply Brief & We Design’ on your way through to the checkout, place your order, and await your confirmation email.
